By Michael RussoNew York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo, who has been an important player in the Islanders’ offense for years, and the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin, who is the NHL’s top scorer, have both been among the most consistent players in the NHL this season.
Okposo and Ovechakski were tied for first in the league in goals in a four-game span during which they scored 10 apiece, and both have been among league leaders in scoring in three different periods of play.
The pair has combined for 17 goals in that span, and Okposolovs scoring pace of 18 goals per 36 minutes has led the NHL since the start of February.
Ovechkis six goals are tied for the league lead, and his six assists rank second in the Atlantic Division.
Okposi has 10 points in nine games, with two goals and seven assists in his last seven.
Odds of finding a new team:The New York Islanders will be the team to watch on Saturday night in a game that will be broadcast nationally by ESPN, but will likely be the first to see it on TV, as the NHL is airing the contest on local television.
The Washington Capitals are in their second-round series against the Boston Bruins.
