My name is Maria Sarmento and I'm the Mommy!

My love for food and cooking goes a long way back to my childhood. My mom always liked to entertain and to cook endless treats for our friends and family. I learned from an early age that the kitchen is a truly magical place! I would watch meals being made from scratch and soon began to learn how to make them myself.

We are Portuguese and we are widely known as having a rich and full of traditions culinary history. We like to gather around the table and usually, on the weekends, there is always a family lunch anywhere! Also, during the week the mealtime is the moment when the family gets together and is able to connect after a full day of work or school. Nothing like a home made meal and the family at the table! 

After having my own children I began to pay a little more attention to what I bring to the table. The quality of what we eat has become more important than ever with the ever growing amount of additives and preservatives that is present in every single product we buy at the supermarket. I'm always looking for healthy alternatives and to incorporate whole foods in our daily diet. That usually means getting more creative with what I have at hand.

The farmers market is a great source of natural, organic and safe food. That is usually the base of my weekly shopping trip and around that I try to build tasty meals with protein, veggies and fruit that will give my family a well rounded diet. 

I also love to share the products I use and I'm always looking for new and exciting alternatives, I'm going to share my favorite brands and products so that you can, too, benefit from all the mouth watering and delicious hidden treasures that lurk around even in the frozen aisle at your local supermarket.
